Boredom Interrupted

Basically what we get on the media are the same predictable reruns. Even the science programs on KCET are reruns. Of course there's a movie set in ancient times where some Egyptian high official says "We are the posessors of all knowledge. We have an almost painful awareness that we posess the totality of all there is to be known". Jesus Christ of KFI made the statement last week that the reason we know there aren't people living on other planets with technology more advanced than we've got is that "Well, Misouri is far away. You don't think people in Misouri are smarter than you, do you? Therefore there IS no such thing as space ships with advanced technology that travel faster than light. It's a romantic, sexy notion, but that's all it is". On KCET there seems to be an appeal to reactionary science. They compared human body weight to some spring that gets stretched or contracted but basically snaps back into the same old position. Therefore human weight falls within a "confort zone". You may go high in the zone or low in the zone but you will never escape it. In another segment of the "quadrilogy" they had the notion that nature created elements numbered one through ninety-two but man wasn't able to get much further. He got to about element 103 (Laurencium) and kind of got stuck. This is because the nuclius of an atom can only hold so many charged protons. But element 114 is called a magic number, and if you could get to 114 by combining Plutonium with Calcium, then you'd have a nuclius that was quite stable. Well they tried that and didn't quite succeed. Some of the things you hear now you've heard decades before. I had a Sunday school teacher back in high school that said that in a decade or two Earth would get struck by an asteroid. Now they are saying an asteroid is headed our way in the year 2027 and it will come ten times closser than the moon. But then if it passes through the "key hole", a patch of space, the asteroid will return in the year 2036 and finish Planet Earth off. Apparently our computers aren't smart enough to figure it more exactly. If you are bored with TV and the radio there's a nice little scripture in 2nd. Peter that should serve as a palliative for all the unwashed masses out there. People condemn Ron Hubbard because he's both a science researcher and a science fiction writer. And yet on KCET they referred to such people as "whole brained" people. They use the research left half of their brains and the creative right half of their brains. And indeed you have to be a bit "creative" to do good research to come up with a theory nobody else has thought of. But of course Christians say that they are the possessors of the sum total of all knowledge.

O Bama's financial report has come in for the second quarter and O Bama now leads Hillary by an impressive lead in money raising, 31 million to 23 million or something. According to the media it won't translate in votes. Even though the polls like at Iowa don't look that impressive for Hillary the media persists on telling us she's the anointed one. Of course they say the same thing about Giuliani on the Republican side. Mayor Viragosa has been caught having an affair with a Mexican reporter and people like Larry Elder say how horrible it is. Viragosa, affair doesn't bother me. I'm more bothered by Rudy's three wives and how Pat Robertson has endourced Giuliani for President. I guess Giuliani is the new guardian of the moral right or something and as such is someone to be looked to for guidance. No, thank you. Then we have the way the media has gone after John Edwards. KTLK 1150 has pointed this out. Edwards is the choice of the left and yet it doesn't show up in the polls. You have people like Anne Coulter launching her sick attack on Edwards and the best the ABC network can do is to give Anne Coulter more air time and to attack Edwards from "profiting monitarily from Coulter's attacks". If that isn't a sick bit of backward logic I don't know what is. Edwards and his wife and family are the victims of Coulter's smears and the media blaims Edwards for it. The chances of Al Gore entering the race are growing slimmer with each passing day. Fred Thompson said he was going to get in the race in early July but so far I haven't heard any announcement. Whether Giuliani is the nominee of the Republican party will depend on the decision Thompson makes. I think he'll make a lot of people in the right wing nut crowd happy and as a target he'll be easier to mount a campaign against than Giuliani would be.

Personally I think we're all sick of this Cry Wolf terror tactict. I'm thinking what some bright group should do is just plant suspicious packages one after the other all within a given area and drive the officials nuts tracking them down and going nuts. Some terror group is going to think of this as a decoy before the real attack. I think we're all sick of the service we are getting at the airports. They say flight cancelations are up 91% and that delays of over 45 minutes are up 65% and the securety measures get more cumbersome all the time. And the people put up with it. No airline would call themselves "The only way to fly" today. Flying used to be a rare treat you'd pamper yourself with. No more. They charge you for a bag of peanuts and that's your dinner. And no smoking allowed. Now the media machine is saying that Al Qaida is planning a "Terrorism spactacular" for later this summer. I think these Al Qaida people have been watching too much US TV. They wouldn't dare try another 9 - 11 or anything remotely like it because within minutes all the perpitrators would be shot dead, along with all the innocent people would lose their lives in Islamic lands because of the subsequent war our president would declaire. Obviously life would become intollarable for American citizens were there to be another 9 - 11. People talk about the date 7 - 07 - 07 but we at the Z A C have been talking about the date 10 - 10 -10 as one to watch for, if you can remember that long.

Bullying is a horrible thing. The chronicle of man's brutality to his fellow man is a shameful one for people on planet earth. On the Montell Williams show they had a fourteen year old boy who came home from football practice because he was mistreated by the other boys. His mother told him to go back and continue the next day. The boy's brains were beaten out and his head was rammed through a wall or something. For a while he was so brain damaged he couldn't count to five. He developed amnesia. But on top of that this was one of those rare "brain damaged" situations where something was destroyed in the brain that controls morality, and the young boy himself became a brutalizer of others. Those responsable for the original crime were never prosecuted. In my Word document I say that "The great Pevericator" as a call him, would just throw up his hands because the worse things become the more excuses he makes not only for himself but for the oppressors. I think Dennis Prager and I would agree that someone who tollerates or even in some ways encourages bullying of others, is an Evil person. We have used the term "The Great Pavericator" for an individual I know in my life. But there is also man's cruelty tword women. In India those women who are widdows are shummed as though they were untouchables or something. They shave their heads in life long mourning and are not allowed by society to remary. Dr. Laura must love it. Of course there is cruelty to fellow women like the way young teenage girls are treated in nunnaries in Ireland, that amounts to cruelty and child molestation. Our impulse should be when we see an injustice taking place to move to quickly correct it. But Montell's message was watered down later in that show when he equated to the beating that 14 year old kid got, to someone saying to someone else, "You know- that person acts a little Gay doesn't he?" Sometimes you insult the important by ad-mixing it in with the unimportant and trivial and calling it all the same. This is what Christians do. They have no such distinction as degrees of Evil. To them it's either all or nothing at all. One might say "If everything is a sin- - then in reality- - Nothing is a sin". (Selah)

We all know what George Bush did yesterday. He commuted the sentense of Scudder Libby. This act has been thoroughly discussed on the Stacy Taylor show on 1150 at noon yesterday. The event has been likened to a Mafia fall guy who goes to prison to be rewarded at a later date. The only thing is Libby never went to prison. The Courts refused to delay implementation of his sentense and the only way to keep him out of jail was for President Bush to act right then. This will make a great campaign issue for the democrats. It's one I wouldn't let anybody forget. Bush wouldn't commute any of those death sentenses in Texas even though some cases were of a nature that they should be reviewed. Bush knows which side his bread is buttered on. He's playing to his constituency even though Bush has sunk to a new all time low of 27% popularity. I don't see why any Republican would want to have anything to do with him. The President might not even be allowed to speak at the convention next year. Of course it sends a message that political vendettas are in force and that CIA agents and our secrets are not safe but at any time can be exploited for political purposes. Obviously Bush and Dick Chaney should be impeached. Pat Lahey is debating whether to cite Bush for contempt of congress for failure to turn over E mails involving the firing of those eight prosecutors. People are saying that the only thing conceivable that would Save the Bush presidency is another 9 - 11 attack. Obviously George Bush does not believe in the rule of law or that law breakers should face the consequences. People on the Stacy Taylor show have said Bush has never had to face the consequences for anything his entire life. I don't see how Bush's image could get any lower.

Here is the next rock compilation. We're putting two songs out of alphabetical order. On the "Missing Links" album we had "Fearless" and "Evil" out of order. On "Links" there is an unannounced surprise we- - never typed in. "Mercedes Benz" by Janis Joplin comes right after "Mama Told Me" on side two, after that weird note. Then comes "Midnight Train" kicking off the next side. On the song we dropped, the Byrds did a cover version of it. "Please Go Home" was inadvertantly ommitted the first draft so we're cutting another song to include it.

There was one more song on the roster when we sorted alphabetically but I didn’t like the way it ended the album so I just dropped it. I was going to call this album “Dylan, Rolling Stones & The Who” but this album kind of turned into one of the most loosely assorted list since “Missing Links”. Like that compilation I kind of let popularity on the radio sway me to a degree. Of course the “Rat” theme is a little topical at this point. Like I say, who associated good cooking with rats? The term “analog chatter” refers to all the noise and other stuff you get with analog that is all filtered out with digital. If a digital signal doesn’t match the code, it doesn’t show up in the reproduction. I have ideas about the rest of the blog but. . .
