Paul Ryan was officially elected Speaker of the House today. Paul Ryan got 236, which is a majority, Nancy Pelosi got 185 and some people voted for this Daniel Webster fellow. There was a smattering of other votes even including Nancy Pelosi. He will become 54th speaker of the house and second in line to the Presidency. I have the replay on C-Span right now. I hear Mc Carthy is pledging some new and open approach where all opinions can be heard. John Boehner’s stuff “was moved out the door yesterday”. Now he’s retiring to Florida to play a round of gold and have another bottle of Marlowe.
I grew drowsy during
Shawn Hannity, who covered the debate mainly criticizing the “obvious bias of
the main stream liberal media”. I later
read a Washington Post article lambasting the moderators, with some video
examples. I guess they have a point but
since I didn’t watch the debate I’m not in a position to say this with
certainty. One commentator was raking
Trump; over the coals reviewing his tax cutting program. The moderator wanted to make his words
appear absurd. Ted Cruz was asked about
the debt ceiling and that’s when Ted Cruz went off on his anti media rant- and
then the commentator said “OK now you’ve used up all your time”. Here is more commentary. Marco Rubio did a takedown of Jeb Bush on the
issue of not attending a lot of senate votes and committees. He contrasted his record with John Mc Cain,
whom Jeb did not attack. Ted Cruise
complained of all of the stupid questions the moderators of the debate were
asking like “Can Carson do math” and “Does Trump view himself as a comic book
hero?” Cruise had an excellent
point. Trump got his way in threatening
to pull out of the debate wasn’t limited to two hours. It was hosted by CNBC and held in Boulder,
Colorado. It ran from five to
seven. It’s agreed that Rubio and Cruz
were helped and Carson and Trump were the losers. Carley Feurina and Chris Christie are in the
business of telling lies. As Christie
would have it, retired people aren’t entitled to their payments because the government
has already spent it all. Thom says they
were auditioning for Sheldon Adelson to see who he gives the nod to with his
money. It looks like it could be Rubio. So Christie wants to regulate any on-line
gambling venues such as Fantasy Football because Sheldon Addelson is a Las
Vegas gaming person, and LV loses business with online gambling.
Newsflash - - China is
officially rescinding their one child policy instituted in 1979 enforced by
sterilation and forced abortion. But
exceptions have been creeping into the picture.
There were tolerances for ethnic minorities or if the first child was a
female. Now they say if both parents are
from single family homes themselves they are allowed to have two. I think this will go a long way to reduce
anxiety on the subject there. Some
people traveled abroad to have their children.
There were shady adoption schemes.
But I imagine the impact on the economy would be the most dire
consequence- - or it would be here with Social Security payments.
I had Norman Goldman on and he was talking
about this school “disruption” situation where a sixteen year old black student
(girl) was texting on her cell phone and wouldn’t stop when told to by the
teacher. Then she was ordered to leave
the classroom. She didn’t. The principle came in and she wouldn’t obey
him either. Finally this on campus
officer told her to leave. One report
has the girl punching the officer. I saw
the video last night on ABC news. The
officer flipped the desk over with her still in it. She sustained minor injuries. People agree that what should have happened
was delaying the whole confrontation till after class and then calling the
girl’s parents informing them the girl would get a three day suspension. Someone said that since Colembine, they have
thought it prudent to have police officers right on campus. Another student tried to “interfere with law
enforcement’s job” and she was arrested.
It’s all a hairy situation. Anyhow that police officer has been fired.
Chris
Le Boy is leaving the Stephanie Miller show in two and a half weeks. November 13th will be his last day
on the show. Chris is getting out of
radio and becoming a public relations agent for a Casino in Palm Springs, so he
doesn’t have to get up at “stupid o clock”.
As such Stephanie didn’t say that much about the Republican debate. These two have been together fifteen years or something and clearly the show won't be the same without the interplay between the two of them.
There isn't any cosmic news. I wish there were. But a lot of of 2015 has been a quieter time for those dead rock stars and other extra-terriestrial cultures. I also haven't done much at all lately on any subject involving metaphysics or anything involving higher math of science. I still don't know what has happened to Stewart Sutcliffe - - who of course is the deceast one time Beatle bass player among his numerous incarnations. We'll both just have to stay tuned.
