I was musing on all the talk with Wally talking about statistical standard deviation formulas "That I did myself" that really with computers, the formula is the easy part. Just feed in a good formula and out pops the answer, without having to think that much about methodology of execution but merely "formating the thing so the computer can understand it". People think if they know a formula they know everything. I used to think I knew what the formula C = M C square was. It turns out I was wrong. I thought it means "Oh if matter gets accelerated to the speed of light- then all of that matter turns into pure Energy". Wrong. Actually the ratio between Energy and Matter is identical whether the matter is going zero miles per second- or 150,000 miles per second. The ratios are not just "similar" but Identical. That's an eye opener, huh? Only the ammounts of BOTH are increased- but in the Same ratio. But I got to thinking in much simpler terms- - of a standard physics newtonian variety. Assuming that C simply means "speed" then we can say that Speed squared times Mass equals - - wait for it - - Weight. Actually I have isolated six kinds of "weight" which is a "force" as opposed to Mass - which is an entity unto itself. For instance if a car is going ninety miles per hour and crashes into a brick wall- - of six inches thick- - it will do a whole more lot damage than if the same car ran into a concrete wall of say- thirty inches in thickness. Why? Because the weight of "push back" is greater, to counteract the impact. This is weight as a singular moment in time. We then come to Impact- or the second kind of Weight. For instance- - if you crash into a ten foot wide brick wall at high speed in a car you will demolish it. But if you crash into a wall a hundred yards wide- - MOST of the wall will not be damaged. Suppose there were a way to spread out all of that impact distributed over the entire 300 foot wall. There would be much less damage. So then Impact- - is Weight- - in a moment of time BUT it is allocated over a squared surface measurement. Thus it is weight per square foot or something. If a woman with spiked heels stands on a bathroom scale she will weigh no more than a woman in flats of the same physique- - because the weight from the spiked heels is distributed over the entire surface area of the bathroom scale. Hence the impacts are identical. In a dramatic illustration of weight equaling mass times speed times speed, certainly when you were a little kid you would jump up and down on the scale to see how far you could get the scale to register. A car crashing into an object at sixty miles per hour- - by this theory should do not double, but four times the ammount of damage to a wall as a car that crashed at thirty, or half the speed, because the speed is squared. Impact is isolated speed (pounds) in a moment- - allocated over square feet of surface. We have other measurements for you. There is Torque. This is weight that is applied on a continual basis. Pressure is weight allocated over a squared surface- - if a continuing time. So that Pressure is Torque- - allocated over squared inches rather than just as a single line vector or Torque. That's clear, isn't it. To turn a screw you need torque. There is another unit of measurement, the foot pound. This is a unit of weight basically measured out in a Fixed Interval of Time, as near as I can figure. For instance- - if you are doing a clean and jerk for weight lifting 200 pounds- - you expend a lot less energy or "work" at it than one doing a slow continuous "press" motion. So the one who "presses" rather than "jerks" this weight- - us doing a lot more Work, or foot pounds. Other terms for foot pound would be horsepower- - - or in terms of energy required to do the work - - kilawatt hour. Watts per say is a rate but not a fixed amount of energy usage. Ferads are fixed differences in capacitence of electric charges. I believe "Collumbs" is the term for said "differences in capacitance" over a Fixed Interval in Time. But the term for continuous difference in Potential- - this would be Volts. Amps and ohms are inverse to one another- - each using its own "calibration" or measurement system. If you double the Voltage - - power that gets used or Watts- -goes up four times or in a perverse way a represe of our "speed squared" formula - - since the resistance strays unchanged. Half the resistence to force level ratio will double the impact because you "double" a double. Capish? Volts are continuous power NOT used but WATTS are continuous power that GETS used. We told you that a foot pound was a unit of work. However foot pounds allocated over a surface area would be "temporary pressure". For instance maybe you could endure a couple hundred pounds of pressure on your body for a few seconds- - but not continuously. So these are the six permutations of the subject of "weight", which is a Force. Just remember that weight is a Force. Mass is an entity unto itself.
Untill I got a gander at what Quantom Physics really was and is- - I was dealing in what seemed like Mickey Mouse land. So let's do a few eye openers for you. Each "solid" nuclear particle only contains three percent "solid" material- - and these are called Quarks- - which are believe it or not the basic building blocks of nuclear particles. The rest of the weight of the mulicule, or your own body therefore is not the "solid mass" of the Quarks - -but the "binding energy force", which is also known as the Strong Force, one of the four basic forces as physicists determine it. It is thus much more evident than before what triggers a Fission Nuclear reaction and this is the 'breaking of these bonds of bound energy". So ten pounds of plutonium can produce a twenty megaton bomb, or what have you. That's a lot of bang for your buck, or in this case fissionable material. But we are also informed in those "Fourteen Undeniable Facts' in Astronomy Cafe- - that other forces of energy are "out there " and not accounted for. We know interestingly - - that "Energy has no charge", which could make a good anti pertroleum industry pun. When an electron and a positron collide- the result is "energy without a charge" which could turn into photons or some other form. I could remind you (though it wasn't in the material I read yesterday) of the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle- - which says that either Time or Location may be isolated- but not both at the same time. People have said that "time and space" behave differently on the sub atomic level. I could take this assertion with a grain of salt because from what I read, Quarks obey the law of physics as faithfully as any other entity. I don't know what "Dark Energy" is. Much of the material of this and the following paragraphs - Dates from only the 1960s. It was material that was just being "discovered" when I was in school. I'll come clean and say that after I did the research covered by the paragraph below- - I felt unfulfilled because none of that stuff was the least bit "Mysterious" or metaphysical or "not of this world". However when it comes to aspect of advanced Quantom physics- - we run into the stranger stuff. I have told you about "event horizons". A chief charactoristic of these- - which I maintain are often hyperbolic in shape, is that- - Things appear to Exist and then Not Exist, and then Exist again. Things in the darkness of empty (?) space blip on and off like snow on a TV set of old. I have a theory behind all of this "alternately appearing or Existing and then Not - existing. I call it the effects of Faster than Light travel. To me that would explain it. It is not "emperically there" such as measurable through the medium of what I still refer to as "Ether". Nowhere in my research last night did I come accross the God particle. Astronomy Cafe maintains that "Without Time there would be no space and there would be no Mass". I label this assasment is one suffering from Ontological confusion. After all would the sun fail to come up if one day you killed the rooster? We have spoken often of the "necessary illusion" or "what deductively would follow from other things" once you introduce a varient on certain equations. For instance we know that- - Mass must necessarily be bigger with - - more quickly transversing time. When I say "Passing through Time more quickly" I mean- - things taking LONGER TIME to happen. Here is Time increases- - all else being equal- MASS must increase, too. The idea of gravity as it were "compressing space" has been handled by me previously in my "moving vector point Doppler wave illusion" illustration. Since gravity can be and IS accounted for (explained) by acceleration of Movement - - gravity being acceleration and acceleration being gravity- - therefore whatever phenomena are observed by acceleration- - also occur with gravity. There is a You Tube of this guy with a blackboard and some simple equations written- - and this is a two minute snipped of a much longer speech- - that you get referred to in your search for "particles in empty space". Try that.
I decided I would
undertake a study of sub atomic particles so at noon I did just that and
watched a You Tube video- - - twice, on the subject, and it was
enlightening. Then I looked at other
Wickipedia articles. First of all sub
atomic particles divide into Quarks and Leptons. Quarks have mass and leptons do not. There are basically three types of Leptons
but only electrons are stable. They say
that positrons are also stable but I’ve heard otherwise from several sources. There are two more categories each with its
opposite charge type. Besides this there
are also things called Nutrinos- - which like photons have no mass and no
charge, and the difference eludes me- except that they said “must neutrinos
come from the sun”, which is at odds with what I’ve heard about most coming
from outer space, as cosmic rays. They
do go through matter, which photons don’t.
There are three types of neutrinos and three anti neutrinos- - and the
funny thing is that all three types of anti neutrinos are stable but only one
type of regular type of neutrino is stable.
As to quarks they are in one third and two third mass varieties. The positive or UP quark are a positive two
thirds charge, and the DOWN quarks are a negative one third charge, and both
are one third atomic mass. Protons are
made up of two UP quarks and one DOWN quark, and neutrons are made up of one UP
quark and two DOWN quarks. But quarks in
addition to having electrical charges also posses “spin” and also a “color
charge” and tend to occur in groups of three.
I believe three quarks is a Hadron- - and a positive and a negative
quark is a Meson. I had always heard
mesons were highly unstable and transitory.
But clearly in all of this, quarks are not “quirky” and fully obey the
laws of physics. But nowhere in all of
these particles or others un described here such as pions and berryons - - none
of them seem to be in any way connected with “out of this world” or “not of
this universe” quality. But I’m glad I
have managed to educate myself at least a little on this subject, so I know at
least something.
