Father Eric was exonorated of all charges but now he's "Just not feeling it any more" - - the call of God upon his life. He's like Joan of Arc when the voices have gone silent and now doesn't know what to do.

Yesterday afternoon I was siting out back on the benches - - and must musing how nowadays every time I try and "Tune In" to what the Federation or Sirius A is saying- - all I hear are crickets" I was thinking a la Father Eric "Maybe this is God's way of telling me something. Perhaps God is speaking through his Silence"
Talking to Judy on the phone last night her words struck a cord. Perhaps all of these congressional investigations ARE a gigantic waste of time. As a conservative, I find it refreshing of her to admit that. Because they waste time going into the minutia of things- and meanwhile the real crooks are coming up with new loopholes and evasions and ways of getting around the law, and we're always going to have it this way as long as man's basic evil nature is not changed".
I said "Well, this would be a perfect time for God to come back with the whole world exploding in conflicts the way it is". And Judy said "The Bible says that human nature has always been this way. The problem is that we think Democracy will work when the people don't have a basic sense of Morality and Decency to begin with". And I thought about that- - and couldn't come up with an argument by way of response.

The Seven Virtues as I see them are as follows- - all of them I regard as essential, but like the branches of Government must be kept in proper balance. Here they are
Compassion This could man manifest itself in such varied forms as generosity, grace, mercy, going the extra mile, patience, understanding - and other Christian values such as these
Faithfullness to one's one beliefs and covenents. But never make a covenent with evil, and if you transgress against others, you must repent of that, even if it means breaking an oath you made
Integrety (think also of "made with integrety)
Courage - - bravery
Perhaps the most besetting sin of all with both President Obama and congress is the sin of sheer craven, cowardess
Pursuit of Justice "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice, and moderation in pursuit of Justice is no virtue
Dilligence (I think we all know what this means) Formerly the term in this slot was "perseverence" but Dilligence is a much better term, for it implies responsability but not obsession.
Prudence - - - Wisdom is acquired from circumstance, but we need to do what is prudent to do at any time, even not knowing all of the facts. I don't see how God can penalize us for not acting on what we don't know, and neither have any expectation of.
For the seven vices check out April of 2010 in "Opera". I would just say one additional thing. Averice is Lust turned outward to steal from and violate the rights of others. Addiction is Lust turned inward upon one's self. I think we all know what addictive behavior is. It could be drugs, or gambling, or sex (hard to believe for me at the present time) or notions people "need to believe in" because it feeds something neurotic within them.
