Most of the news has been on rerun the past few days. The only new items is Donald Trump taking on Amazon saying they get a special deal with their mailing rates, which they don't, and that they don't pay their fair share of taxes. Since when has any republican been worried about a business not paying enough taxes. He's just mad because the Republicans back over ten years ago wanted the post office to go bankrupt and now the post office is making money off of Amazon. There is also another cabinet official Trump is thinking of firing. I have been feeling sick the past day and a half like I have the flu. I first noticed it when I had no appetite for yesterday's lunch. Then I got an unpleasant phone call from someone that really took my appetite away. I watched two segments of The Ten Commandments. I hope to watch Jesus Christ Superstar tonight. San Antonio just defeated Houston 100 to 83 or something and they are doing the post game show. I have no new news to report. I did discover I'd made a significant mental mistake in one of my writings last week as I discuss in the following paragraph.
Houston, we have a
problem. It pertains to this motor boat
analogy we’ve been using to iilustrate the behavior of light waves traveling at
high speed. Boiled down to its simplest
components, for objects in front of you the waves are compressed. For objects behind you the waves are
expanded. But to put it in even clearer
terms, the Doppler property of either light or sound is based on the fact that
for two objects approaching each other, the sound is higher and the waves are
shorter. Once the object passes you and
heads the other way, the waves or pitch get longer and lower. I think it’s clear that the speed or
movement in the “medium of propagation” doesn’t matter as far as the dopper
effect is concerned. Stated another
way- it doesn’t matter which direction the wind is blowing- - - these
properties of pitch alteration will be unaltered. If the object is approaching you the pitch is
higher and if the object is going away from you the pitch is lower. And a clanging railroad crossing makes a
constant dinging sound if you are stationary standing next to it. If you’re on the moving train you get the
alterations in pitch. The situation would be the same for those
listening to the noise of the train.
